Where to Play: Licensed Betting Sites for Nigerian Punters

If you bet from Nigeria, start with an operator that names a Nigerian licence and whose operating company you can find on a register. Then check how you fund and withdraw, and only then look at the welcome offer. The sites below are the ones this paper covers, ordered by fit for Nigerian punters, not by commission.

  1. SportyBet Nigeria

SportyBet is a mobile-focused sportsbook that suits punters who follow football and live markets on a phone. Its own pages cite Lagos and NLRC licences and the operating company is on the Lagos register, but older pages show licence numbers that differ, so check the register itself.

  2. Bet9ja

Bet9ja is among the longest-running Nigerian bookmakers, run by KC Gaming Networks Limited and listed on the Lagos register, with online and retail access. Few details are published for non-customers, so read the current bonus terms on the live site.

  3. BetKing

BetKing is a Nigeria-focused sportsbook with wide sports coverage and quick virtual games for short sessions. It lists several overlapping state and national licences, so verify each one yourself, and its promotion terms change often.

  4. MSport Nigeria

MSport Nigeria offers a wide football and live betting menu with casino games in the same account, and the NLRC named it among cleared operators in 2023. Bonus figures differ across third-party sources, and fake bonus scams use the name, so only trust the official site.

  5. 1xBet

1xBet has one of the widest menus, with sports, esports, casino and poker, and it advertises more than 200 payment systems, which helps where options are limited. It holds a Curacao licence rather than a Nigerian one, and welcome terms vary by region.

  6. Stake

200% Deposit Match Bonus up to $3,000

Stake is a crypto casino and sportsbook known for provably fair originals and a large game library. It accepts crypto only with no fiat deposits, so you carry coin price swings, and it is not available in the US or UK.

  7. Hyperbet

Hyperbet is a crypto-first casino with a very large lobby and quick account creation. Hyperbet is operated by Hyperbet Ltd, and this blog is published in association with Hyperbet Ltd. It names an Anjouan authority but shows no licence number on the site, so it sits outside the Nigerian regulators.

How do I know a betting site is licensed in Nigeria?

Licensing is split between state and federal bodies. The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority keeps a register of licensed operators, and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) names operators it has cleared. Check that the company name on the site matches the one on the register, because a brand can be listed under a different operating company. Older pages sometimes cite a regulator's former name, so go to the regulator's own list, not the site's footer.

Can I fund an account in naira?

Some operators list card payments and Nigerian bank payments. Others publish no payment list at all, and the cashier only shows once you are logged in. Read the minimum deposit and the withdrawal terms there before you pay in, and confirm the fees. A site that lists crypto only has no naira route, so you carry the exchange rate and network fee yourself.

What about offshore and crypto sites?

Offshore brands such as those licensed in Curacao or Anjouan can accept Nigerian players, but their licences sit outside the Nigerian regulators and offer you a different level of protection. Whether a site accepts your location is set in its own terms, so read the restricted list. Crypto funding also brings price swings, since the value of USDT or any coin in naira moves.

Are bonus offers worth chasing?

Treat any offer as a set of terms first. Several operators here change their promotions often or show different amounts on third-party pages. Fake bonus scams also use well-known brand names, so only trust offers shown on the operator's own site.

What about responsible gambling?

Betting is for adults aged 18 and over, and it can lose you money. Read our responsible gambling page, set a naira limit before you start and stop when it stops being fun. Our affiliate disclosure explains how the paper is funded.
